The Law “On electronic digital signature” entered into force in January
On January 14, 2023, the Law “On electronic digital signature” entered into force. Thus, the previous law of the same name has lost its validity.
Similarly, to the previous legislation, the new Law also regulates the main issues related to the acquisition and use of Electronic Digital Signature keys. However, several innovations are provided, including:
- Expansion of the list of activities of EDS key registration centers
- Under certain conditions, it is allowed to store EDS keys in the cloud of the center
- The ability to independently create public and private EDS keys, subject to subsequent registration of the public key
- The trusted party function has been introduced

New e-commerce law entered into force in Uzbekistan
On December 31, 2022, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On electronic commerce” dated September 29, 2022, No. ZRU-792 came into force.
The law regulates issues related to the remote sales, as well as the sale of digital products, such as electronic intellectual property objects and the purchase of services in the electronic information environment.
This law provides for a number of innovations, including:
- Application of the law to business as well as to consumers
- The need for a specific formulation in Uzbek language
- The requirements for escrow services are prescribed.
- New procedures and rules for remote sales
