The award was established as part of the EBRD/GCF Programme for Supporting Renewable Energy and Promoting Gender Equality in Kazakhstan. Along with EY, this initiative was supported by the KAZENERGY Women’s Energy Club and the Qazaq Green RES Association.
The main objective of the Women in the Renewable Energy Sector Award is to identify and recognize the achievements of women who demonstrate high professionalism, enthusiasm, and a desire for institutional change in the renewable energy sector in Kazakhstan. The establishment of this award will also provide an incentive to build the capacity of the renewable energy sector in Kazakhstan, identify women’s role models and draw attention to the issue of equal opportunities for women in the renewable energy sector, government structures, business, and public organizations.
Candidates can be nominated in the following categories:
- “Female leader in the field of renewable energy” Award
- “Business Leader” Award
- “Driver of Change” Award
- “Young Leader in the Renewable Energy” Award
- “Young Researcher in the Renewable Energy sector” Award
