International financial institution dedicated to promote transition to market economies by investing mainly in the private sector development and entrepreneurship. The EBRD was established in 1991. Headquartered in London, the Bank operates in nearly 40 countries from Central Europe to Central Asia and the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean, plus the West Bank and Gaza. Owned by 69 countries including Kazakhstan and two intergovernmental institutions (the European Union and the European Investment Bank).
