The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is an international financial institution dedicated to promoting the transition to market economies by investing mainly in private sector development and entrepreneurship.
The EBRD was established in 1991. Headquartered in London, the Bank is currently active in nearly 40 countries from central Europe to central Asia and the southern and eastern Mediterranean, plus the West Bank and Gaza. The EBRD serves the interests of all its shareholders – 69 countries from five continents plus the European Union and the European Investment Bank.
