What does 25 years mean for a business?
Let’s be honest—it’s a solid track record. It proves resilience, demand from clients and partners, a strong reputation for external communications, and a stable team for internal growth.
But what if this business is… an independent theater? Or to sound more official—Kazakhstan’s first independent theater company. For most people, theater is something creative, driven by inspiration, emotions, and talent. It doesn’t easily fit into the usual boxes of business processes. Standard financial planning, profit margins, or lucrative deals rarely apply. Often, it’s nearly impossible to explain its economic sustainability.
And yet, there is Artishock Theatre. Based in Almaty, Kazakhstan, it will launch its 25th anniversary season this autumn. Since 2001, for a quarter of a century, it has proven the opposite—reinventing what it means to be a relevant, contemporary cultural institution in Kazakhstan, recognized worldwide. Artishock continues to promote modern theater in the country, while initiating educational and international programs.
As we prepare for our 25th season, we are planning a true celebration—not just of our history, but of the broader ecosystem around us. We will highlight independent Kazakhstani artists, writers, filmmakers, poets, musicians, and composers—all the important voices who, like Artishock , have built themselves up from the ground: freely, independently, and professionally.
We will publish a book that documents not just our journey—our “History of Cultural Shock”—but also serves as a practical guide on how to believe in your creative path, face challenges with courage, and find solutions to any obstacle.
We’re also preparing an ambitious international program with long-time partners like the British Council Kazakhstan, Goethe-Institut Kasachstan, Alliance Française Almaty, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Almaty, and Chevron Corporation.
We will produce high-quality video versions of our best performances to make them accessible to wider audiences and preserve them as part of the history of contemporary Kazakhstani theater.
Our goals and vision are like a powerful energy source that drives our team forward, inspiring audiences and shaping a new generation of theatergoers.
Having worked closely with EUROBAK for many years, we are confident that we share common values and ideas with Association’s members. We are open to partnership and joint initiatives as part of our anniversary celebrations—and we would be thrilled to make this journey together.

Что такое 25 лет для бизнеса? Согласитесь, приличный срок, чтобы убедиться в его устойчивости, востребованности на рынке у клиентов и партнеров, это крепкая репутация для внешних коммуникацией и стабильная команда – для внутренней.
А что, если этот бизнес – независимый театр? Хорошо, назовем «солиднее» – первая независимая театральная компания Казахстана. В понимании большинства людей театр – это нечто творческое, основанное на вдохновении, эмоциях, таланте. Театр сложно вписать в привычные рамки стандартных бизнес-процессов, здесь не работают большинство правил финансового планирования, выгодных сделок, сверх прибыли. Объяснить людям его экономическую состоятельность порой практически невозможно.
И в тоже время есть театр ARTиШОК. Здесь, в Алматы, в Казахстане, который этой осенью открывает свой 25-й юбилейный сезон. Четверть века, с 2001 года, он опровергает все выше сказанное и более того, изобретает свои решения, как быть востребованной казахстанской культурной институцией, признанной во всем мире, продвигая современный театр в республике, инициируя образовательные и международные программы.
Продумывая 25-й сезон, мы планируем настоящий юбилей, которые не только подчеркнет нашу историю. Мы будем говорить о независимых казахстанских художниках, писателях, режиссерах кино, поэтах, музыкантах, композиторах – обо всех важных личностях, которые так же, как и ARTиШОК все эти годы делают себя, сами – свободно, независимо, профессионально.
Мы будем издавать книгу, которая зафиксирует не только путь театра, как «Историю культурного шока», а станет настоящей инструкцией по тому, как верить в свое творческое призвание, не бояться сложностей и находить варианты решать любые задачи.
Мы будем делать большую международную программу с партнерами, которые много лет рядом с нами: British Council в Казахстане, Goethe-Institut Kasachstan, Alliance Française Almaty, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Almaty, Chevron Corporation.
Мы будем снимать профессиональную видео версию наших лучших постановок, чтобы они могли быть доступны для широкого круга зрителей и остались в истории казахстанского современного театра.
Наши планы и желания – это как мощный заряд энергии, который движет нашей командой, ведя за собой зрителей, формируя молодую аудиторию.
