EY: The key question that interests sector experts and investors today is whether gold will still be a “safe haven” in the world and what is the potential of the gold mining sector in Kazakhstan?

EY expert Tatiana Miroshnichenko provided short answers to this question, also shared a study on the sector and spoke about the TOP 3 risks and opportunities: “Gold has good prospects and growth potential, and companies such as RG Gold, ERG, B2GOLD once again confirmed the attractiveness and continued high profitability of the sector. However, large gold mining companies should pay more attention to trends related to aspects of the circular economy – such as the reuse of gold, the need to disclose non-financial reporting to all stakeholders, assessing the economic impact on the regional economy, integrating sustainability into corporate development strategies.”

Moreover, EY experts Viktor Kovalenko and Konstiantyn Taranets participated at AMM 2023 in a session on the role of green metals in the decarbonization of the Central Asian economies. Victor moderated the session while Konstiantyn presented how reducing the carbon footprint of products can be applied to increase profitability in the metals trade.

EY is actively involved in the country’s climate agenda and regularly release various studies on ESG topics. If you have any questions about the development and implementation of a carbon regulation adaptation program, the introduction of appropriate market mechanisms in this area, please contact us:
