Audris Barcevicius joined Siemens in 1995 as a marketing director for Siemens office in Lithuania. Prior to coming to Kazakhstan, Audris served as the general director of Siemens Osakeyhtio Lithuanian Branch and a Member of the Board responsible for business in The Baltic States. He is now the CEO of Siemens in Central Asia. Audris holds an Executive MBA degree from Baltic Sea MBA Academy in Helsinki. He also completed Siemens and Duke University Advanced Management Training Programme (S3).


Mark joined Deloitte Caspian in April 2007, relocating from Edinburgh, Scotland, where he participated in the IFRS conversion and demutualisation of Standard Life PLC, which now lists on the FTSE 100. Prior to this, Mark worked with another Big Four firm for over five years in both, the UK and the Cayman Islands. Prior to becoming Deloitte Caspian managing partner in June 2012, Mark was the head of the region’s Financial Services audit industry, actively engaged in the audit of some of Kazakhstan’s largest financial institutions.

Victoria is a partner in Dentons’ Almaty office with over 20 years of experience gained while working with a number of international law firms in Kazakhstan.  Victoria advises clients on a wide variety of Kazakhstan law and international law issues, including litigation, corporate, subsurface use and employment matters. S Victoria has advised on a number of major mergers and acquisitions. She has a LLM degree from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA.  Victoria is a member of the AIPN, KPLA and Kazakhstan Bar.


Oleg Khanin worked as deputy chairman of the Management Board for Business Development since 2009. Mr. Khanin has been working in the Company since 1998. During this time he held the positions of assistant chairman of the Management Board for Insurance Affairs, auditor, chief underwriter of the Underwriting and Surveyors Department, vice president for insurance, deputy chairman of the Management Board for Financial Affairs. Mr. Khanin’s career began in 1998 in the Almaly District Tax Committee of Almaty City. In 2013, London Insurance Institute (CII) certified him for the industry accomplishments. In 2013, he was awarded with the medal "Honored financier" for his contribution to the country's financial sector. Kazakhstan Association of Financiers awarded Mr Khanin with the order of "The best financier" in 2014.

Ibrahim Canliel works for Air Astana as CFO and has been with the company since its early stages in 2003. He undertook a range of commercial senior management functions in the company prior to stepping up to his latest role in December 2017. He started his career initially in tourism in Turkey during the 90’s until he joined aviation with KLM in 1998; briefly in the Gulf and consequently in Central Asia.

He has been in Kazakhstan for the past 20 years managing business units successfully during both upturns and downturns. Ibrahim was a Board Member of Eurobak during the earlier days from 2005 till 2007. He studied Economics at the Marmara University and did his MBA at the Bosphorus University. Ibrahim is married and has two twin daughters.


Gordon Haskins is CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Al Hilal Bank Kazakhstan, having joined AHBK in November 2016. AHBK is now part of the UAE’s 3rd largest banking group, which has operations in 9 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia, and China.

He has more than 27 years of experience in banking and law. Prior to joining AHBK, Gordon was Country Executive, Chairman of the Management Board, and member of the Board of Directors of RBS Kazakhstan for 3 years prior to its sale by RBS Group in 2016 and, previously, was Chief Operating Officer for the DCM & derivatives business for the EMEA region. He worked with RBS Group for over 13 years, having also been Managing Director in Regulatory Developments and Head of Transaction Execution in the Secured Corporate Debt business.

Saken Zhumashev

Erlan supervises a variety of EY projects in the region, most of which are aimed at public sector reforms, including development of infrastructure, cleantech, regional integration, tax and customs administration and many others. Currently Erlan co-chairs the FIC Investment Policy working group, and during 2012 – 2013 he co-chaired the FIC Investment Image Enhancement working group. Erlan is committed to the enhancement of investment environment through his personal engagement in business and professional associations and EY corporate projects. He is a regular speaker at various conferences/ roundtables on the subject of Kazakhstan’s investment attractiveness. Erlan is a part of EY Emerging Markets global network.  

Saken Zhumashev joined KPMG in 2008, and has been leading KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia as a Managing Partner from 1 December 2018. Mr Zhumashev has professional experience for more than 15 years and most of his career devoted to KPMG where he started development of Management and Risk consulting and as a result led business to the largest consulting practice in Central Asia.

Saken specializes on complex projects related to transformation and automatization of the companies’ operations, as well as on promoting institutional and economic reforms in Central Asia, Russian Federation and countries of the European Union.

Timothy L. Barnett joined KIMEP University in 2016 as a vice president for research, international and strategic affair. Prior to coming to Kazakhstan,

Timothy worked in other universities for over 30 years in California, Illinois, Louisiana, South Dakota, Alaska, Singapore and China. Timothy Barnett graduated from the University of Nebraska, US with a BA degree and from the Azusa Pacific University, US with a MA degree.

He has a PhD from the Claremont Graduate University, California, USA. Timothy holds a CELTA certificate.


Ambassador Sven-Olov Carlsson is a European diplomat with his professional origin in the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he worked from 1982 to 1996. Since then he has been working in different positions as an official of the European Commission and within the European External Action Service.

During his career, he has been posted in the Swedish Embassies in Moscow, Tunis, Warsaw and Copenhagen. Within the Commission he has held positions within the areas of EU enlargement, in particular the accession of Poland, and in the sphere of foreign policy. Since 2010 Mr Carlsson has been working on relations with Russia, first in Brussels and during the period 2013-2018 in Moscow as Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Russia. Since October 2018 Mr Carlsson is Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is an economist by education and speaks English, Italian, French and Russian.

Julie Kussidi

Julie started her career working for a European company. She has worked in various sectors including the quality and verification control programme with the Customs Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the oil & gas industry during times of massive privatization in Kazakhstan, and banking. As of November 1999, she has been in charge of the Secretariat Office of the European Business Association of Kazakhstan, working closely with the government of Kazakhstan. In this role with EUROBAK, she also works with European companies present and those planning to do business and invest in Kazakhstan. Her role also includes working with embassies represented in Kazakhstan as well as Kazakhstan embassies in other countries and the Delegation of the European Commission in Kazakhstan. She also works with various charity and business associations and chambers of commerce in Kazakhstan and worldwide.
